Finding a straight answer on sofa cleaning prices at home is frustrating: most sites advertise a very low starting rate, then charge double once the technician is on site. Here is our full rate card, item by item, with the amount you actually pay after the French tax credit.

These rates apply across Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne and the outer ring. They cover a complete hot-water extraction clean: fabric assessment, targeted stain treatment, deep clean, and moisture extraction.

How much does sofa cleaning at home cost?

In Paris, expect €125 incl. VAT for a 2-seater sofa and €50 per additional seat: €150 for a 3-seater, €200 for a 4-seater, €295 for a corner sofa. As cleaning at home qualifies as a personal service, the 50% tax credit brings a 3-seater down to €75 actually paid.

How much does sofa cleaning at home cost?

Price depends first on the number of seats, since that determines how long the machine runs. Here is the rate card applied across the Paris region, incl. VAT, with travel included within Paris.

Sofa type Total width Price incl. VAT Real cost after tax credit
2-seater sofa 120 to 180 cm €125 €62.50
3-seater sofa 180 to 230 cm €150 €75
4-seater sofa 230 to 280 cm €200 €100
5-seater sofa 280 to 350 cm €250 €125
Corner sofa (up to 6 seats) 350 to 400 cm, chaise longue included €295 €147.50
XXL corner sofa (7+ seats) 400 cm and over, modular units €375 €187.50

To measure your sofa, take the total width from armrest to armrest, not the number of seat cushions: plenty of sofas sold as 3-seaters measure 240 cm and fall under the 4-seater rate.

💡 A €125 minimum call-out applies, because a visit ties up one technician and one machine for half a day. If your item alone falls below that — an armchair at €60, say — combine it with a second item to reach the threshold without wasting the visit.

The 4 factors that move the price

Beyond size, four things change a quote. Knowing them lets you compare two proposals honestly.

Fabric type

Polyester and microfibre are cleaned at the standard rate. Velvet, Alcantara, suede, fine linen, bouclé and leather need a specific protocol and a patch test, and carry a 20% surcharge. That is the only fabric surcharge we apply.

How old the stains are

Unlike much of the trade, we do not charge per stain. Yesterday's wine spill and a two-year-old mark cost the same. The outcome does differ: after a few months, a pigment set by heat or by the wrong product may only lift 70 to 80%. We say so beforehand, not afterwards.

Access to the property

A professional extraction machine weighs around thirty kilos. A fifth floor without a lift is charged the same, but flag it when booking so the slot is sized correctly.

Service area

Travel is free within Paris. Beyond that, a flat fee applies regardless of how many items are cleaned.

Area Départements Travel fee
Central Paris 75001 to 75020 Free
Inner ring 92, 93, 94 €20 incl. VAT
Outer ring 77, 78, 91, 95 €30 incl. VAT

50% tax credit: what you actually pay

This is the point most comparison sites miss, and it changes the maths entirely. Upholstery cleaning carried out at a private home in France counts as a personal service, which opens entitlement to a 50% income tax credit on the amount paid — whether or not you are liable for tax.

In practice: a 3-seater sofa invoiced at €150 costs you €75. A corner sofa at €295 comes to €147.50. That net figure is what should be compared against competing offers, not the headline price.

Caps and conditions depend on your personal circumstances; current rules are published on impots.gouv.fr. A provider not registered for personal services cannot give you this entitlement, so their advertised price is their final price.

The delicate-fabric surcharge: when does it apply?

Six families of textile justify a specific protocol and a 20% surcharge. In every other case — cotton, polyester, microfibre, synthetic blends — the standard rate applies with no uplift.

🔶 If you are unsure about your fabric, send us a photo taken in natural light. We confirm the exact rate before the visit, never after.

Armchairs, chairs, cushions and mattresses

These are often combined with a sofa to reach the minimum call-out. Mattress rates are per side; double them for a full both-sides treatment.

Item Price incl. VAT Real cost after tax credit
Armchair, small €60 €30
Club or wingback armchair €80 €40
Chair, small €25 €12.50
Upholstered chair, large €40 €20
Scatter cushion €12 €6
Seat cushion €20 €10
Single mattress, 90 cm (1 side) €72 €36
140 cm mattress (1 side) €96 €48
160 cm queen mattress (1 side) €108 €54

At home, dry cleaner, or machine hire: the honest comparison

Three options exist for a 3-seater sofa. Compared on what you actually end up paying, they do not rank the way most people assume.

Criterion At home Dry cleaner / workshop Machine hire
Real cost, 3-seater €75 after tax credit €150–250 plus transport €35–50/day plus products
Your time 30 min, nothing to move Dismantling and round trip A full half-day
Drying 4 to 6 hours Several days without your sofa 12 to 24 h, weaker extraction
Risk to the fabric Patch test on a hidden area Standard protocol, no on-site assessment Over-wetting and water rings are common
Tax credit Yes, 50% No, work done off-site No

Machine hire looks cheapest until you add the products and a second hire day if the result falls short. More importantly, consumer machines extract far less moisture than professional equipment: the foam stays saturated for days, which is what causes water rings and, in the worst cases, a musty smell that cannot be undone.

Why €49 offers for a 3-seater deserve a second look

These ads exist, mostly on classified platforms. Here is what usually sits behind the price gap.

⚠️ Three checks before booking, whoever the provider is: an active SIREN number, a current professional liability insurance certificate, and a personal services accreditation number if you are being promised the tax credit. All three can be requested in writing in thirty seconds.

Frequently asked questions about sofa cleaning prices

What is the average price for sofa cleaning at home in Paris?
Between €125 and €250 incl. VAT depending on the number of seats, and up to €375 for a large corner sofa. The most common size, the 3-seater, is €150 incl. VAT, or €75 after the 50% tax credit. These prices include travel within Paris.
Does sofa cleaning really qualify for the 50% tax credit?
Yes, provided the work is done at your home by an organisation registered for personal services. Our accreditation number is 2023-433. We send you the tax certificate to enter on your income tax return, and the credit applies whether or not you are liable for tax. Caps depend on your household situation — see impots.gouv.fr.
Is there a minimum call-out charge?
Yes, €125 incl. VAT. A visit ties up one technician and a professional machine for half a day, which makes a standalone €25 job unviable. If your item falls below the threshold, the simplest fix is to combine: one armchair at €80 and two chairs at €25 reach the minimum.
Is travel charged?
It is free within Paris. Expect €20 incl. VAT in the inner ring (92, 93, 94) and €30 incl. VAT in the outer ring (77, 78, 91, 95). The fee is charged once, regardless of how many items are cleaned during the same visit.
Does the price go up if my sofa is heavily stained?
No. We do not charge per stain: a heavily soiled sofa and one that simply needs freshening up are the same price. The only possible surcharge is the 20% for delicate fabrics — velvet, Alcantara, suede, fine linen, bouclé, leather — and it is confirmed before the visit, never on the doorstep.
How much does corner sofa cleaning cost?
€295 incl. VAT up to 6 seats including the chaise longue, or €147.50 after the tax credit. For modular units of 7 seats and over, expect €375 incl. VAT, or €187.50 net. Measurement is taken across the full run of both arms of the corner.
Is hiring a machine and doing it yourself cheaper?
Only on the surface. Hire runs €35 to €50 for a day, plus products, with no tax credit — around €50 to €70 in real terms against €75 for an insured professional job. More to the point, consumer machines extract far less moisture: drying stretches to 12–24 hours and there is a genuine risk of water rings or damp odour trapped in the foam.
